Asemi Co.’s Tanba-yaki cups bring together a clean contemporary form with the traditional Shinogi carving technique of Japanese pottery.

Each cup is individually formed on the potter’s wheel before being carefully hand-carved by the artisan. The carved vertical pattern adds subtle texture and rhythm to the surface, highlighting the handmade character of every piece.

The Tanba-yaki collection is available in two distinctive finishes: Frost and Turquoise. Despite their different glazes and regional techniques, all Asemi Co. cups share the same signature contemporary shape, allowing different pottery styles to be mixed and matched as part of one cohesive collection.

A beautiful balance of traditional craftsmanship and modern simplicity, designed for everyday tea, coffee and other drinks.

As each piece is wheel-thrown, hand-carved and glazed individually, natural variations in size, colour, glaze, carving and finish are to be expected. These subtle differences are part of the unique character of handmade Japanese pottery and are not considered defects.
