Choju-giga Shell Incense Holder - KOUSAIDO [Made in Japan]

These shell-shaped incense holders are inspired by the Choju-giga picture scrolls, a Japanese national treasure depicting frolicking animals at play, created between the late Heian and early Kamakura periods and often described as Japan's oldest manga. Each holder takes its name and design from a different playful scene from the scrolls, such as a sumo match or a game of pursuit.
