A heartfelt ode to innocence and beauty

1. Inspiration: Capturing the Pure Light of Life’s Beginning

Within the chromatic narrative of the Qing Ben Yuan Twelve Colors, Ying Pink was born from my enduring pursuit of purity and beauty. As a creator, I deeply believe that color is a visual language of emotion and culture—and Ying Pink is my way of expressing innocence and hope to the world.

The inspiration came from a quiet yet profound moment—observing the delicate glow of an infant’s skin. That tender blush, soft and luminous, reminded me of sunlight filtering through morning mist—pure, ethereal, full of promise. It’s a color untouched by worldly noise, symbolizing the very beginning of beauty.

A baby's smile and unguarded gaze embody trust and wonder. Their presence is nature’s gentlest gift, reminding us of life’s authenticity. I wanted to distill this feeling into porcelain—so that in every tea session or quiet moment, people could be gently reminded of life’s purest joys.

2. Color Characteristics: Sculpting a Soft and Dreamlike Hue

Ying Pink is a carefully developed pastel hue—distinct within the pink color family. It avoids the brashness of hot pink and the blandness of pale blush. By balancing the vibrancy of red with the clarity of white, Ying Pink creates an atmosphere that is both sweet and serene.

Its tone shifts with the light:

  • Under warm indoor lighting, it glows like a rose petal touched by candlelight—soft and romantic.

  • In natural light, it takes on the clarity of early spring cherry blossoms—fresh and luminous, like morning dew.

Texturally, the glaze has been specially treated to feel like a baby’s skin—smooth, warm, and delicate to the touch. It’s more than a color—it’s a full sensory experience that evokes warmth, softness, and purity.

3. Craftsmanship: The Art of Realizing Color

Bringing Ying Pink to life was a journey of collaboration and dedication with our craftsmen. The glaze formula combines selected natural minerals, balanced through countless trials to perfectly harmonize the red and white pigments.

The firing process required precise control of temperature, kiln atmosphere, and timing. Even the slightest deviation could cause color shifts. Through continuous adjustment and observation, we refined the optimal conditions to consistently produce the desired softness and depth of Ying Pink.

We also paired this glaze with an inner-molded ocean wave motif, blending pattern with color. The carving of the wave design demanded extreme delicacy—ensuring fluid lines that complement the gentle pink. During molding, every parameter—from clay moisture to pressure timing—was tightly controlled to achieve crisp, vivid impressions beneath the pastel glaze. The result is a porcelain piece that’s both dreamlike in color and lively in texture.

4. The Meaning Behind the Name: Anchoring Emotions in Color

Naming this hue “Ying Pink” (婴粉色) captures its essence: innocence, hope, and the origin of life. In a fast-paced, chaotic world, people often lose touch with the purity that once guided their hearts.

This name acts as a soft emotional anchor. When someone sees or holds a piece glazed in Ying Pink, we hope it gently stirs a longing for simplicity, honesty, and wonder. It’s not just a color—it’s a message, a memory, and a quiet reminder to preserve the tenderness within us.

It encourages us to greet the world like a newborn—with curiosity and love.

The Ying Pink glaze from Qing Ben Yuan’s Twelve Colors is a heartfelt tribute to innocence and joy. It represents the fusion of traditional porcelain craftsmanship with modern aesthetic and emotional sensibilities.

May every porcelain piece adorned in Ying Pink bring a gentle, radiant presence to people’s lives—carrying purity and beauty forward through time.
